Heidi received her Bachelors degree in Chemistry with a focus in Mathematics from Pomona College (California, USA) in 2012. Her undergraduate research involved the growth of inorganic crystals from chemical vapor deposition. She received her M. Sc degree from the Department of Chemistry at the University of California, San Diego in 2014 under the guidance of Dr. Michael Sailor. Her M.Sc research focused on the development of a longer-acting hormonal contraceptive injectable using porous silicon microparticles. Heidi joined the Segal Lab in March 2015. She is working on the development of porous silicon arrays as an optical biosensor for antibiotic susceptibility testing.
