SafeWax develops a revolutionizing strategy for multi-functional crop protection. SafeWax is a revolutionizing plant-inspired wax coating which exhibits a unique combination of super-hydrophobic, anti-adhesive and self-cleaning properties to protect crops from pathogenic fungi.
SafeWax research consortium is an international research network with 5 partner organizations from 3 different European countries, led by the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. This project aims at developing a universal bio-inspired spray formulations to control plant pathogens in a sustainable manner without using toxic pesticides. SafeWax technology will be demonstrated on grapevines, which are severely damaged by fungal-associated diseases.
SafeWax generic coatings will pave the way to protect other commodity crops.
