Sofi received her B.Sc. in Biotechnology and Food Engineering from the Technion in 2015 (summa cum laude). She joined Prof. Segal’s group in August 2013 for an undergraduate project and continued for a PhD in a direct track and in a dual doctoral program between the Technion and Leibniz University Hannover (Germany), under the joint supervision of Prof. Ester Segal and Prof. Thomas Scheper. Her PhD has been devoted towards improvement of porous silicon-based biosensors for protein targets, via approaches such as integration with microfluidics technology.
Sofi is currently working on the development of a platform for detection and enrichment of pancreatic cancer cells from blood for the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
